best kiss album
I have ALL of Kiss' albums and have been a fan since I was a wee lad. The Elder STILL gets play, and STILL rocks.
If you are expecting three chords and a regular Kiss album, do not buy. If you want a killer journey, buy it. Love it, Crank it.

Kiss Klassic
Being 22 now, I first purchased the CD when I was 12 - having no knowledge of the turmoil surrounding or the even worse reception of The Elder. I personally think that even though it doesn't hold a match to a true Kiss Klassic like "Creatures", "The Elder" was a brilliantly concieved masterpiece. It's a shame that Gene and Paul don't think so. Aside from "A World Without Heroes" being on Unplugged, I don't think I've seen them play any of that album live. They should. Tracks like "I", "The Oath" or even "Only You" could be great staples in Kiss' live set. A truly underrated album to say the least.

It is a good album...just not for KISS
When I found this album I was un-aware KISS had a new album out. I was very excited and couldn't wait to get home to crank it up. The opening track "The Oath" was ok but went on and on...but when "fanfare" and "just a boy" started I clearly remember thinking to myself "This can't be KISS. What is this? It says KISS on the cover." I did eventually warm to the album somewhat. Paul Stanley said it best...It's a good album, just not a good KISS album.
