The latest in a long-running series of '80s compilations marketed on TV by Universal focuses on the dance side of the decade and does a surprisingly good job at presenting a thorough look at how diverse the dance movement really was. Shades of boogie, electro, and the funky side of mainstream dance hits from the post-disco era blend in and out of the mix, with some later-'80s pop and new jack anthems thrown in for good measure. There are plenty of hits and cult classics to satisfy even the most seasoned dance veteran, including Shannon's "Let the Music Play," Afrika Bambaataa's electro classic "Planet Rock," and the Gap Band's "You Dropped a Bomb On Me." If you're looking to fill in some holes in your '80s dance collection, this would definitely do the trick. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
