A four-disc (two DVDs, two CDs) multimedia roundup of 2007's free concert at Speedway Meadows in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of 1967's so-called Summer of Love, this set is pure nostalgia done up 21st century style, and while it's certainly interesting, particularly in a time warp way (think Civil War re-enactments), after awhile it feels like much ado about nothing much. The music is OK, if oddly insular, but just like the various attempts to revive the Woodstock concert, the fact remains that you just can't go home again no matter how hard you try. In the end, it's always here and now and the only summer that really matters is the one you're in at the moment. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
